Revitalize your workplace culture by reinforcing the three R’s

Your workplace culture plays a huge role in your organization’s success. Don’t take it for granted. Reinforce what’s positive and productive about your organization by concentrating on the three R’s:

• Recruitment. You’re looking for employees with the right skills, but you also need to attract candidates who will be a good match for the people already working for you, and for the values and goals of your organization. Don’t rush the process.

• Retention. Hiring is only the first step. Once you’ve recruited good people, learn how to keep them on your payroll. This involves finding out what their career goals are, supporting them in their professional development, and maintaining an atmosphere that people want to work in. It’s an ongoing process.

• Rewards. Employees are looking for recognition, feedback, and fair compensation for their work. Not every reward has to be financial, but sharing the wealth demonstrates your commitment to teamwork and mutual support. Feedback and praise are also valuable tools for showing what—and who—you value in your organization, so make recognition a priority in your everyday dealings with employees.
