The Goals and Objectives of HRM

The objectives and goals of HRM are derived from the basic objectives of an organization. In order to achieve organizational objectives, integration of employers’ interests and employees’ interests is necessary. These goals would include:

 Achieving high performance through people
 The intangible assets such as culture, skill and competence, motivation and social interaction between people, teams and business units are increasingly seen as a key source of strength in organizations which can combine people and processes together. Performance goals are achieved with help of high performance work systems which take into account the factors affecting individual performance and promote flexibility. they also include rigorous recruitment and selection procedures, performance contingent recruitment compensation systems and management development and training activities linked to the needs of the business(Becker et al ,1997).Boxal and Purcell(2003) indicate that the level performance is a function of ability, motivation and opportunity.

 Enhancing motivation, commitment and job engagement
The human resource departments should be able to enhance motivation and commitments that will enable people develop a kind of psychological contracting with their jobs. This is a relationship based on positivity towards their job with mutual expectations between employers and employees coupled with a high involvement climate. Human capital advantage HRM employs the skills and knowledge of employees effectively and efficiently. It ensures job satisfaction and self actualization of employees by encouraging and assisting every employee to realize their full potential .

Human resource development and knowledge management
It ensures maximum individual development of all members of the organization by providing opportunities for training and development.

Valuing employees
The function recognizes and satisfies individual needs and group goals by offering appropriate monetary and non-monetary incentives. It secures the integration of all individuals and groups by reconciling individual, group goals with those of the organization. It establishes and maintains productive, self respecting and internally satisfying working relationships among all members of the organization.

 Employee relations
It develops and maintains quality of work life which makes employment in the organization desirable at personal and social situation. It maintains high morale and good human relations .Manages change to the mutual advantage of individuals, group’s goals, the organizations and the society.
