Recruitment and selection of employees

The most important job of a Human Resources person is the recruitment of employees.
The success of any firm depends on the quality of human resources. This is why it is very important for any human resources expert to be very sure of hiring the right staff without compromising anything from the onset.
Questions to address as one is recruiting:
Ø  Can these staff deliver?
Ø  What are their strengths?
Ø  Can they fit into the corporate goal and objectives?
Ø  What are their competencies?
Ø  Can they be trained?
Ø   Can they pursue the vision of the firm?
Ø  What values are they bringing into the organization?
Ø  What are their career prospects?
Ø  Can we count on them to fit into the succession plan of the company?
A recruiter should remember that job applicant’s fake or exaggerate their qualifications and experiences to impress interviewers to get a job. Thus the screening should go beyond qualifications and appearances hence a need for competency analysis.
Competency analysis involves checking a candidates qualifications , education , skills , knowledge , abilities , achievements , strengths , self image , traits and inherent motives. It’s good to note that motive and traits are not straight forward yet these are what says who a person is.
Employee resourcing is an expensive process thus both the process and outcome in terms of quality of staff hired should meet the cost benefit analysis ration.
